I have always had a creative spirit. While very young I fell in love with oil painting. As a young adult I explored all mediums and enjoyed all, but I always returned to oils.
While raising my children and working as a paralegal there was no time for painting, but I always found a way to express my creativity (or feed my creative soul). Everywhere I went, I had a pencil and pad with me for sketching. Later on, I worked with clay and began designing jewelry. My sketches are being sold at Mohonk Mountain House, New Paltz, NY and my jewelry is being sold at Crafts People, West Hurley, NY.
In 2005, I retired and returned to oil painting . . . again. Now free to approach oil painting full time, I spend a lot of time in classes and field work. I have had the good fortune to study under many amazing and accomplished artists in the Hudson Valley. I began at the Bruynswick Studio and Art Gallery owned by Pattie Eakin, Artist, and was there for several years.
I have also worked under Dominique Rickard, Esther McHenry and Gail Fedigan at Mount St. Mary College. At The Woodstock School of Art, I was fortunate to take classes under the instruction of Hongnian Zhang, Author and Fine Artist.
I believe it is important to always challenge yourself, expand your horizons and keep it exciting. I have spent the last seven summers with my family in Warrensburg and Stony Creek. So . . . many of my paintings are landscapes of the majestic Adirondacks . The mountains and lakes in this area are a painter’s dream.
I began showing 5 years ago. I have participated in the last three Artists on Campus Art Show and Sale at Mount St. Mary College and last year, the 37th Annual Art Show, I was awarded Honorable Mention for an oil painting I did of Schroon Lake. Whether it’s a solo show or with my peers, I am always delighted to share my paintings with you.
